Dermal Fillers

What is a dermal filler?

A dermal filler is made from a product called Hyaluronic Acid (HA).  HA is a naturally occurring substance that exists in almost all living organisms.  Its role is to absorb water and transport nutrients to the skin, keeping structure and volume of the skin.

Dermal fillers are used to reduce lines, add volume and give pronunciation of our facial structure.

From our mid twenties the amount of collagen in our skin reduces by 1% a year.  Then later in our 40’s the collagen reduces significantly until it stops altogether.  This results in sagging and dull skin.  The dermal filler results are immediate.  The filler usually continues to develop over a month as your own collagen is stimulated and lasts from 6-18 months depending on which filler is used.  The effects are long lasting, non permanent and reversible.

The Treatments

Cheek augmentation

The cheek area often becomes most affected by ageing and can leave us looking tired and sunken. As we age we develop thinning of our bone structure, loss of fat and lax ligaments and muscles.   By having dermal filler into the mid face area it rejuvenates and add volume giving a more youthful appearance. Cheek augmentation with dermal fillers are also given to people as young as in their 20’s who lack pronunciation of their cheek bones.

Nose to mouth lines

Most of us have visible nose to mouth lines due to our skin’s natural folds.  However with ageing and the breakdown of collagen then these lines become deeper.  Dr Sarah administers dermal filler to the nasolabial folds to help smooth and soften these lines.

Marionette Lines (mouth to chin lines)

Lines that begin at the corner of your mouth and extend to your chin.  They appear with age in our late 30’s onwards.  In addition to genetics they are more defined from pursing your lips and being in the sun excessively.  With reduced collagen and bone resorption and loss of fat and muscle as we age we tend to then get deeper lines.

£300 per 1ml syringe

Frown line treatment with HA

For deep stubborn glabellar lines often referred to as (the 11’s lines between your brows) that do not go away with botulinum toxin then a light dermal filler is used to soften the appearance of these lines.

£250 1ml syringe

Lip augmentation is when a dermal filler is injected into the border or into the body of the lips to give volume and structure.  Plump lips are often looked upon as a sign of beauty and has become extremely popular in both men and women.  I like to keep all my clients looking natural rather than overfilled.

Lip treatments start from £250 (0.6ml)

Barcode lines between Nose and lips

The lines that appear vertically between your nose and lips are referred to as “Barcode” Lines.  They appear with ageing and smoking.  They are treated by using a soft filler above the lip area.

£250 per 1ml syringe

Post Treatment After-care

We advice to avoid touching or rubbing the area.
Any facial treatment, as well as sauna’s or extreme temperatures should be avoided for up to 2 weeks. I also recommend not exercising for 24 hours post dermal filler.
